Fourteen-year-old Alex Díaz is an effervescent goofball and the underdog player of his new town’s boys’ soccer team. Practicing one field over on the premiere girls’ team is fifteen-year-old Kamaria Jackson, the team’s serious-natured and slightly anti-social rising star player, who happens to be a trans girl. But somehow, emerging out of the two teams’ complicated history practicing next to each other, Alex and Kamaria develop a fierce yet playful rivalry and perhaps an unlikely romance.
